AT&T has topped the charts in smartphone sales on its debut iPhone 7 smartphone, with the new device topping the sales charts worldwide, according to data released Wednesday.
The company posted a net sales gain of 1.8% for the year, or $4.9 billion, as the iPhone 7 became available for preorder on Sept. 2, according a company release.
AT<d said its revenue from smartphone sales was up 18% over the same period last year.AT<ds sales of the iPhone were the highest ever for any iPhone model.
Apple’s iPhone 7 sold 5.7 million units worldwide during its launch weekend, surpassing the sales of last year’s iPhone 6s, which had sold 5 million units in the same time period.
Apple sold 1.3 million iPhones during its first two weeks of availability.
The iPhone 7 has a price tag of $1,199 and can be preordered now.
AT &ltd is selling the phone in select markets and has not said when it plans to release it in those markets.
The new iPhone comes as Samsung continues to struggle with slowing sales of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note7 has been the subject of a number of lawsuits in the United States and abroad.
